Start with LMU's official setup guidance
Disable Steam Input if it interferes with wheel force feedback. Enable Use Steering Wheel Range From Vehicle and match the game's calibration to the driver's maximum rotation. Use low in-game smoothing, because driver-side filtering can add latency. Set Minimum Steering Torque to zero on a direct-drive base.
Only invert force feedback if the wheel pulls in the wrong direction. LMU haptics are an optional separate layer, not a replacement for core steering FFB.

Community baseline for 8 Nm
A conservative starting profile is SEN Auto or 900, FFB 100, FFS Peak, NDP 10–20, NFR and NIN Off, INT 3–6, and FEI, FOR, SPR, and DPR 100. In LMU begin with FFB Strength 65–75, Smoothing 0–3, Minimum Torque 0, and vehicle range enabled.
This is a community synthesis, not an official Studio 397 preset. Current discussions and a clipping-focused user test converge around roughly 69–75% game strength for an 8 Nm base; 90% can clip substantially in strong cars and corners.

Tune by symptom
If high-load corners lose variation, reduce LMU strength. If the signal is grainy, add one smoothing or interpolation step. If the wheel oscillates, first verify the current LMU filtering issue and calibration, then add modest damping. Keep minimum torque at zero unless testing proves a genuine centre dead zone.
Use the same car and track for each three-lap test. Prototype, GT, and hypercar steering loads can differ enough to justify separate saved profiles.

Record the game version
LMU's official support documentation currently notes filtering and oscillation troubleshooting, and behaviour can change between builds. Show the tested LMU version, Fanatec driver, firmware, rim, and torque mode with every preset. Retest rather than carrying an old value forward silently.
